microsoft_xbox_360_project_natal1Microsoft just came out with a huge announcement for the Xbox 360, and that’s support from many big names in the publishing business for console gaming, for a certain add-on that we’ve all been waiting for.

Project Natal, one of the latest and most exciting innovations Microsoft has announced for the Xbox 360 in a long while, was widely regarded as being an attempt to compete with the Wii on the Casual Gamer front.

Only announced 3 months ago at E3, Project Natal is expected to arrive some time next year, and Microsoft says it will revolutionize console gaming. Not to mention it will head to the PC too.

Most people thought that it would come as an expensive add-on that would have little games supported, but that theory has already been proven wrong, with demonstrations of Natal on games such as Burnout. Various trials and demonstrations have shown Natal to be quite capable of offering a powerful gaming experience, and is many levels beyond the Wii.

Microsoft has just released a list of the publishers that will support Project Natal, and make games that will take advantage of what Natal has to offer. Microsoft says that collectively, these publishers account for nearly 70 percent of the 3rd party software sales for this generation’s consoles, and “most of the world’s most recognized video game franchises.” This includes Activision Blizzard, Bethesda Softworks, Capcom, Disney Interactive, Electronic Arts, Konami, MTV Games, Namco Bandai, Sega, Square Enix, THQ and Ubisoft.

All of those companies are working on games that run on Natal, or additional game content that would work with Natal. “[These] announcements at the Tokyo Game Show underscore the swift industry support for the revolutionary controller-free experiences being developed exclusively for Xbox 360″, says Microsoft.

It looks more and more like Natal is becoming the revolutionary add-on that Microsoft proclaimed it was.
