The partnerka, the common name for partnerships of russian affiliate networks that drive most of pharmaceutical spam today, are extremely rich. A Sophos study, based on canadian pharmaceutical spam, reports that these networks can generate $4,000 per day in sales, thats $43,200,000 per year!

The largest network is called Glavmed. The company itself claims to be very anti-spam, but a little research shows that one of it’s sister company, “SpamIt” is a private group of s-mail spam networks. Some believe that these are behind many internet botnets, including conficker.

Sales records of GlavMed, show around 20 sales per day, with each sale around $200. This adds up to $4,000 per day. This 40% commissions, it gives $1,600 to GlavMed. This is only from one affiliate, and thanks to the massive amount of affiliates this results in massive revenue.
